EXPECTED TO ATTEND CO-OP & CONDO EXPO MARCH 25TH
BY MATT KOVNER
The Cooperator's 12th Annual Co-op & Condo Expo is an opportunity for real estate professionals to meet face to face with nearly 3,000 members of the co-op and condo community. In addition to providing a venue in which professionals can view the latest products and services, it is a perfect occasion for networking with colleagues. This year's Expo will be held at the New York Hilton on Thursday, March 25, from 8:30 AM until 5 PM.
The Expo, which has become one of the premier consumer-trade shows for residential real estate, features over 100 exhibition booths, seminars, professional events, and free advice booths. The all day event culminates with a gala Awards Banquet and Benefit attended by industry members and guests.
SPECIAL EVENTS
As in previous years, the event is free and features a series of seminars. Unique to this year's event is an all-day Continuing Education course for real estate brokers, based upon The Cooperator's book "Co-op & Condo Ownership," and presented by The New York Real Estate Institute. The book will also be on sale at The Cooperator's booth. Other seminars being offered this year include "How to Buy a Co-op or Condo," "How to Run a Board Meeting," "Local Law 11," and "Board Members and Legal Liability."
Back by popular demand are the Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP) information booth, which offers expert on-the-spot information concerning water bills and related matters, and the Free Advice Booths, featuring professionals in law, accounting, management and brokerage.
The 1999 edition of The Cooperator's book, The Official Directory of Co-op & Condo Services is being distributed at the Expo, free of charge. The 300-page Directory features listings of thousands of companies that service the co-op and condo community. It also features dozens of ads and a host of informative articles.
EVENTS FOR PROFESSIONALS
In addition to the over 100 exhibition booths, educational seminars and all-day continuing education class for brokers, there are several opportunities for professional members of the industry to exclusively participate in. One of the most popular, of course, is the NYARM luncheon. NYARM holds its March monthly membership meeting at the Expo in the Mercury Ballroom ($60 for members and their guests; $100 for non-members).
AN EVENING OF FESTIVITIES & GOOD DEEDS
At the conclusion of the Expo, an evening of festivities is planned for industry members, boards and special guests. From 5:30 to 6:30 PM is an invitation-only VIP Cocktail Party, an opportunity to mingle with colleagues and friends over drinks and hors d'oeuvres.
At 7:00 PM, the Annual Awards Banquet and Benefit begins, including a four-course dinner, a popular comedienne, and the announcements of the Co-op & Condo Community's Man of the Year and the Leadership in Management Awards. As in the past, proceeds from the dinner and concurrent silent auction will be donated to the Partnership for the Homeless, an organization that provides critical services to homeless men, women, and families. Tickets for the dinner are $150 per person and reservations are required.
Admission to the Co-op &
