If you were at the October, 1998 NYARM monthly meeting you would know that Tom Browne, of JAD Corporation of America was running in the New York City Marathon and was looking for sponsors. The recipient of the monies he was collecting was the New York Child Learning Institute. This is a small school in College Point, Queens servicing autistic children from the five boroughs.

Through Tom's efforts and those of Nelson Davis, NYARM Associate Board Member and fellow employee of JAD, $1500 was raised. NYARM offered to donate an equal amount. Tom finished the marathon and NYARM invited Tom and members of the Institute to the November, 1998 meeting to accept the donation.
Christopher Weldon, Executive Director of the Institute and Sue Vener, Director of the Institute attended the meeting. They brought with them a heartwarming video tape which showed the school and its students. Chris and Sue presented Tom with a beautiful Waterford clock. NYARM in turn presented Sue a check for $1500.
Arthur Leudesdorf,
Richter Properties offered to write a check for $250 if anyone
would do the same. In true NYARM fashion, Emil Braun, AIA and
Ben Jacobson, Jacobson Painting met the challenge.
NYARM also included the school on its agenda for a visit from
Santa in December.
