Mark Weil, has been promoted to Director of Management at AKAM Associates, Inc., a full service residential management organization headquartered in Manhattan.
As Director of Management, Mr. Weil supervises the activities of AKAMs site specialists ensuring their uninterrupted delivery of management services to the companys client portfolio. Mr. Weil previously held the position of Director of On-Site Management.
A seasoned professional property manager, Mr. Weils credentials include more than two decades of experience and expertise in the areas of on- and off-site property operations and management, structural renovation and restoration, mortgage refinancing, contract negotiation, staff supervision and labor disputes, landlord/tenant issues and communication with Boards and residents.
Mr. Weil is the recipient of numerous industry awards and has been responsible for the management of two of New York Citys top ten residential buildings.

Service Directions Inc., (SDI), one of New Yorks leaders in the full-service laundry systems industry, received four major awards in the areas of technology, service and equal employment. The awards, all received in the last quarter of 1998, were the Arthur Andersen Best Practices Award, the Maytag Red Carpet Service Excellence Award, the New York State Employer Recognition Award and the Westchester County Office for the Disabled Certificate of Merit.
In addition, SDI was recognized twice for its commitment to expanding employment opportunities for people with disabilities. The first award came from VESID, the section of the NYS Education Department dedicated to vocational and educational services for individuals with disabilities. SDI has worked with VESID to integrate disabled individuals into the workplace, and was recognized as an organization that has gone above and beyond with an extraordinary commitment to diversity in the workplace. SDI was similarly recognized by the Office of the Westchester County, Executive Office for the Disabled for its policy of providing employment to the disabled.

Insignia Residential Group, a leading New York area residential management company, has been receiving accolades from major industry organizations on a regular basis since the beginning of the year.
The first of these impressive honors came at The Three Hands Grand Ball, where a coalition of three building superintendents fraternal clubs (The Metropolitan Building Managers, The Manhattan Resident Managers Club and the Slovak-American Resident Managers), representing hundreds of building managers, recognized Insignia Residential Group for "outstanding loyalty, dedication and service to the real estate industry. It was the first time a management company had ever received the honor.
At the Real Estate Board of New Yorks annual conference and convention Insignia General Counsel Benjamin C. Kirschenbaum was named Residential Management Executive of the Year.
Two significant awards were bestowed upon Insignia Residential Group at The Cooperators annual Co-op and Condo Expo. Insignia Residential Group was awarded the 1999 Leadership in Management Award and Insignia Residential Account Executive P. Leonard Jones was honored as The 1999 Co-op and Condo Communitys Man of the Year. Earlier this year, The Cooperators annual building survey named five Insignia-managed buildings to its Top Ten Residences in New York.
Late last month, at the New York Building Managers Association Grand Ball on April 24, Insignia Residential Group received the associations first-ever annual Real Estate Pace Setter of the Year Award, and Insignia Residential Managing Director Paul Herman will be named an honorary member of the association.
Headquartered in Manhattan, Insignia Residential Group manages co-op, condominium and rental buildings throughout the five boroughs of New York City; Westchester County, New York; and Northern New Jersey. Insignia is a NYARM management company member.
