ONE SECRET TO ECS SUCCESS HEPA
The best way to clean duct work is a HEPA-VAC or Absolute final stage filter system, both of which ECS employs. This system removes the allergy and disease causing contaminants that continuously circulate throughout the duct system.

INTERESTING STORY
HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particle Arresting. As an interesting note, HEPA was developed by the Arthur D. Little Company in the 1940's under a classified Unites States Government project. These filters were needed as part of the Manhattan Project, which we now know developed the atomic bomb.

HEPA filter technology was declassified after World War II. Today the technology is used in a variety of critical applications in the scientific fields and in asbestos abatement.

WHAT IT DOES
By definition, a HEPA filter must provide a filtration efficiency of at least 99.9% against particle contaminants down to 0.3 microns in size. To put this in perspective, 0.3 microns is 300 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair, or about 30 times smaller than can be seen with the naked eye.

According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), "Most people are aware that outdoor air pollution can damage their health but may not know that indoor air pollution can also have significant effects. EPA studies of human exposure to air pollutants indicate that indoor air levels of many pollutants may be 2-5 times, and occasionally, more than 100 times higher than outdoor levels. These levels of indoor air pollutants are of particular concern because it is estimated that most people spend as much as 90% of their time indoors. In recent years, comparative risk studies performed by EPA and its Science Advisory Board have consistently ranked indoor air pollution among the top five environmental risks to public health."
