BY DONNA KLEIN, nyarm It seems the elements always make their mark when NYARM holds a function! Nevertheless, the constant downpour on Monday, June 12th didnt deter the 150 members and friends attending NYARMs Fourth Annual Golf Outing. Held again at the beautiful Colonial Springs Golf Course in East Farmingdale, Long Island the golfers enjoyed buffet breakfast, driving range, 18 holes of golf, golf carts and a sumptuous barbecue dinner with open bar. Unique to the NYARM golf outing is a golf clinic for those interested in learning the game. Once again golf pro Bill Kearney showed the eager troop how "easy" golf can be! Many are threatening to join the veterans out on the course next year! Because of the soggy conditions many of the teams couldn't finish the 18 holes. Those that did were rewarded by the satisfaction that no matter what the weather, golf rules! This year's winners took home beautiful trophies. The Kew Forest Maintenance Supply team of Jerry Blumberg and Adrian Ponce, Kew Forest Maintenance Supply and Ted and Mel Einsidler, Einsidler Industries took men's low gross. Women's low gross went to "The Girls" Joan Saberito, Nanci Sanders and Donna Klein. The Scientific Compactor/Boiler team of Irwin Sandler, Mark Wisner, Air Master Services, Paul Brostoff, Grand Buick and Phil West took home Calloway low gross honors. Michael Costelloe, Teitelbaum, Inc. hit men's long drive; Jennifer Carey, JLC Environmental took women's long drive with Lori Mortman, R. D. Mortman closest to the pin. SPONSORS Two refreshment carts combed the greens looking for hungry and thirsty players. Thanks to our sponsors Environmental Cleaning Systems, Scientific Compactor/Boiler and Air Master Windows for providing the necessary thirst quenchers and energy snacks. Once again we need to thank Scientific Compactor/Boiler and Air Master Windows who sponsored the hole-in-one prize a Buick Park Avenue for any lucky golfer to hit that coveted hole-in-one. Unfortunately no one did! Sincere appreciation is extended to our breakfast sponsor, A.C. Klem, and our dinner sponsor RCN for supporting this worthwhile NYARM event. Thanks to everyone who donated raffle prizes: Extreme Building Services, JLC Environmental, Kew Forest Maintenance, Keyspan Energy, NY Plumbing & Heating, Northeast Plumbing Specialties, Nu-Way Fuel, R.D. Mortman, Scientific Compactor/Boiler and Varsity Plumbing & Heating. Thanks to our hole sponsors: Aggressive Heating, Air Master Windows, Bargold Storage Systems, Bay Ridge Fuel Oil, Ecker Windows, Environmental Cleaning Systems, Franklen Glass, Industrial Distributors, Jacobson Enterprises, Kew Forest Maintenance Supply, Mainco Elevator & Electrical Corp, New York Plumbing, Northeast Plumbing Specialties, RCN, Robert Elevator, Scientific Compactor/Boiler, Sentry Contracting, Teitelbaum, Inc., TGI Office Automation and Varsity Plumbing & Heating. And thanks to those companies who provided items for the goody bag distributed to each and every golfer: Extreme Building Services (tees); JLC Environmental (towels); Mornhurst Gardens (towels); Northeast Plumbing Specialties (shoe horn/tees) and Scientific Compactor/Boiler (bags/ball markers). Our sincere thanks to all our benefactors. No matter what the occasion, whenever NYARM calls, our members support the organization and help make the day a fund raising success. Appreciation to Pearl Dennis, Arelis Marmol and Bob Weimer for helping man the various "extra money" holes including the Blue Feather hole that benefited our playground fund for the Brooklyn school for the handicapped and mentally disabled. Of course, this day would never come to be without our Golf Outing Committee chaired by Wayne Reed along with his able assistants Irwin Sandler and Ben Jacobson. Thanks to Joan Saberito for pitching in as well. And for those of you who wish you had attended you can make it next year when we tee off on Monday, June 4th, 2001. |
