NYARM HOSTS 11TH ANNUAL REAL ESTATE EXPO
|
On Thursday, September 16, 1999 the New York Association of Realty Managers will host its 11th annual industry tradeshow, the NYARM Real Estate Expo 99. The show will be held at Madison Square Garden, 32nd Street and Seventh Avenue, from 9 AM to 5 PM. Nearly 150 exhibitors are expected at the largest fall/winter convention in the real estate industry. These exhibitors are the vendors, contractors, service people, industry publications and membership organizations that the professional real estate manager deals with on a daily basis. Here, under one roof and in just a few hours, the manager, building owner, superintendent, facility manager and board member can view and inspect the latest technologies, merchandise and services currently available on the market. A host of free seminars will explore issues critical to the property management profession. Each seminar is worth five credits towards the prestigious nyarm certification. Among this years scheduled panel discussions are "Fire Safety and Emergency Procedures", "Easy Money: New Sources for Additional Income" and "The New Millennium Issue: Property Management for an Aging Population." Steve Elbaz, President of Esquire Management Corp. will host the fire safety seminar from 9 to 10:30 AM. This seminar is an abridged version of the enormously successful fire safety event NYARM sponsored in the spring. Attendees will be instructed in preliminary fire checklists, emergency supplies, post-fire policy including restoring building services, documentation, dealing with tenants, etc. A representative from the Fire Safety Education division for the New York City Fire Department will discuss how to educate your residents and building personnel. Vince Callagy, Knickerbocker Village will moderate what is certain to be a compelling discussion on new sources of income. Attorney Jeffrey Moerdler, a partner in the law firm Wolf Block Schorr and Solis-Cohen LLP will address how the incorporating of multi-carrier antenna facilities in a building or rooftop can bring in additional revenue. He will discuss the legal and operational considerations of lease agreements. Jordan Goldman, Bargold Storage Systems will describe the financial benefits to turning unusable space into a money-making, tenant storage facility. Dont miss this discussion from 11:30 AM to 1 PM. Finally, Rochelle Captan, Amalgamated Warbasse Houses will preside at this not-to-be-missed forum for any property manager who is confronted with a growing senior population in any of this/her buildings. Panelists include Nat Yalowitz, co-founder of the NORC Supportive Services Center, the first such program in New York City, Fredda Vladeck, United Hospital Fund and Anita Altman, UJA-Federation. Attendees will be informed of the services currently available and how to develop an on site support center. This forum is scheduled from 2 to 3:30 PM.
